Redeem is one of those churchy words that we throw around, but do you really know what it means? Redeem—to buy back, repurchase, to rescue (often from sin) with a ransom. In Ephesians 1:7 it says, “In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace.” Him is Jesus. In JESUS we have redemption. In JESUS we have BEEN RESCUED FROM SIN WITH A RANSOM OF JESUS’ blood. Jesus came to rescue us, but it cost him his life. Jesus holds this power of redemption. But he doesn’t keep it to himself. The bible tells us that if you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. (Romans 10:9) So today, turn to Jesus and allow him to become your redeemer.
