Song Series: My Revival

In Isaiah 40 it says, “Do you not know? Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom. He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength; They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.” (vs. 28)

I love, love, LOVE how this passage starts! Do you not know? Have you not heard? The LORD is the everlasting God, the CREATOR of the ends of the earth. (my emphasis) It’s almost like someone asking if you have been living under a rock. It’s like the prophet Isaiah was astonished at how the Israelites could not understand who God was, is, and will always be…GOD.

Isaiah continues on, He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom. He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. God Does Not Grow Tired. He Does Not Become Weary. All of this sets up my favorite verse. Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength; they will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint. Even the young will become tired at times. Are you tired? Do you no longer have the strength to continue on? Is life hard right now?  But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength… Those who HOPE. Hope—to desire something with confident expectation of its fulfillment. When we hope in the Lord, When we desire something with a confident expectation that it is going to happen the Lord will renew our strength. The Lord will be our revival. God will bring life again to our spiritual walk. He will revive our walk.
