Song Series: How Can It Be

So many times we get to these points in life where we feel we have gone too far, done too much for God to want us. We feel so guilty and ashamed that we don’t want to even get close to the Lord. Yet, if we are saved, we have Jesus. He is right there pleading our cause. “Who is he that condemns? Christ Jesus, who died—more than that, who was raised to life—is at the right hand of God and is also interceding for us.” (Romans 8:34). Jesus is not condemning us for falling. Instead He is sitting with God and interceding for us. Intercede means to plead some ones case. Jesus is pleading our case to God. Jesus is righting our wrongs, breaking our chains because he overcame. In John 16: 33 Jesus is saying, “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” Jesus didn’t promise that life would be easy have salvation. He tells us that we will have trouble, But take heart! I HAVE OVERCOME THE WORLD. (emphasis added). Jesus has defeated everything on earth. Nothing has a hold on Him and when we have Jesus, we are also overcomers. In 1 John 5 it says, “for everyone born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith. Who is it that overcomes the world? Only he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God.” (vs.4-5). Jesus gave His life on the cross so that we might have eternal life with God. Yes, we may go through times of doubt and even wonder how God could love us, but all God sees is grace. So even when we fall all God sees is the grace and mercy He gave us when Jesus died on the cross.
