In 2 Corinthians 1 I was reading and got stuck on these verses:
3 Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, 4 who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God.
Wow! The God of all comfort. He comforts us in all our troubles. He does this so that we can comfort others in their troubles with the comfort that God gave us. He takes care of us through others and He allows us to take care of others through Him. God is so good.
He knew that we would need comfort from tangible people at times and allows us to receive His comfort through them. I know that in the past few months I have received so much comfort from others who have and have not experienced infertility. Whether they have or not, the comfort they provide is invaluable. I have treasured their words, texts, and emails. I continually read back through them in times that are harder than others.
He also knew that at times we would reach out to Him for comfort. And He is there to hold us and wrap us up in his love each time. I wish I were stronger and went to Him first each time I needed comfort, but that doesn’t always happen. I am human and still turn to other things first.
Comfort. God has it for us in His compassionate heart. He gifts us with the ability to comfort others as well.
The cool thing about it, is no matter what, we are never alone in our troubles.
We have God.
We have each other.
