Today is EARTH DAY and although we did not do a cute craft or go out and pick up trash (we have before though), we did have some fun with earth day topics.
I found a cute FREEBIE here for morning work!
Then I read The Wartville Wizard by Don Madden to start math class. This is a great children’s book about a old man who is tired of picking up trash and teaches his town a lesson on littering.
We then did a great math activity (also FREE here) where my students were grouped and solved a word problem, prepared a poster, and presented their problem to the class. Students could ask questions after each presentation and some great discussion on some misconceptions with the problems came up. It was a great teaching moment for the students and myself.
I hope you all enjoy these free activities and have a HAPPY EARTH DAY!!!
